Weeknight Recipes: Caprese BLT Sandwich

The best and easiest sandwich to make, if you love caprese salads!

The Sandwich
 2 Slices of Bread (Sourdough, Whole Wheat, whatever you prefer)
 3 Mozzarella Sticks
 ½ tbsp Basil Aioli
 3 Slices of Tomato
 1 Leaf of Romaine Lettuce
 2 Pieces of Bacon
 ½ tbsp Balsamic Glaze (or more, it's THAT good!)
Basil Mayonnaise Aioli
 ¾ cup Mayonnaise
  cup Fresh Basil, chopped
 ½ tbsp Minced Garlic
 ½ tbsp Lemon Juice
 ¾ tsp Lemon Zest
The Sandwich

Bake the mozzarella sticks per the directions on the box. While that cooks, fry up your bacon ad rinse all of your produce. Slice the tomato and break the lettuce into 2-3 smaller pieces. This will make it easier to lay on the bread.


Generously spread the aioli on both slices of bread. Layer the lettuce, bacon, tomato and mozzarella sticks onto the bread. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over top of the sandwich and place the other slice of bread. Enjoy!

Basil Aioli

Combine mayonnaise and basil in a food processor; blend until mixed and mayonnaise turns slightly green. Add garlic; process until well blended. Add lemon juice and zest; process until well mixed, 30 to 45 seconds.


Transfer to a bowl and cover. Chill until flavors combine, about 1 hour.
