I hope that you had a great Christmas spent with family and friends. I am writing this on a brand-new Apple MacBook Air, which Santa Clause (my wonderful parents) got me for Christmas. I am in love with it! I am planning a “What I Got for Christmas” post for next week, so be on the look out for that but today we are going to be talking about the Hask Macadamia Oil haircare line. Hask sent me this collection and the drawstring tote to review, so I want to begin by thanking them for gifting these to me. Let’s get started!
I was sent the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and shine oil. The shampoo and conditioner come in a typical plastic “squeeze” container, containing 12 fl. oz. each. The shine oil is also a plastic container with a twist off cap, containing 5/8 fl. oz. of oil. The deep conditioner comes full size in a foil pack with 1.75 fl. oz. of product. As far as packaging goes, I was very happy with everything except for the deep conditioner. I think that Hask could improve this product by repackaging it into a pot or squeeze tube (like their Coconut and Argan Oil deep conditioners) instead of the foil pack. I find foil packs to be very messy to work with, so I actually opened the foil pack and placed all of the product into an old moisturizer pot. The amount of product perfectly filled the pot and I can now easily scoop out the amount I need without wasting any product. So that is my only complaint as far as packaging goes.
As far as fragrance goes, the scent of the four products is the same. They smell like cake! This leaves behind a soft fragrance, nothing too overpowering. If you aren’t a fan of sweet scents, you won’t like this. I personally love sweet vanilla-y scents so I don’t mind it.
Let’s talk price! The shampoo and conditioner retail for $5.99 each. The shine oil and deep conditioner each cost $2.99. This collection is relatively cheap compared to other brands’ macadamia oil lines.
The shampoo works into a rich lather, even though it is sulfate-free. The shampoo and conditioner combination leaves my hair feeling so soft. I like to use the deep conditioner once or twice a week to really nourish my hair, especially after heat styling. This helps to reduce frizz and leaves my hair looking and feeling super healthy. The shine oil prepares my hair for styling by taming fly-aways and giving it a healthy shine. Hask recommends that you use a coin-size amount. Just remember, less is more with this product. It is a true, thick oil. I used a dime-size amount on my shoulder length hair and it was almost too much. My hair appeared greasy to me at first, but it looked great after I styled it with a curling iron.
All in all, this is a great line that I highly recommend. My only con is the packaging of the deep conditioner, but it’s perfect now that I have placed it into the pot. I am excited to try out the other collections in the Hask haircare line now available at Ulta! Have you tried out the Hask Macadamia Oil haircare line before? What were your thoughts?
